A gilt bronze mirror
A gilt and chiseled bronze mirror with a foliage décor and flower garlands, resting on two rocaille feet. The back is in mahogany with a sliding foot on which allows to use it as a table mirror or as a wall one.The bronze allows artisans, working during the reign of Louis XV, to show the greatest imagination, by combining different rococo patterns and by favoring the movement in their compositions. The reign of Louis XV is the one of imagination, fancy, movement, primacy of decor on the form, of the curved on the straight line. It is the omnipresence of rococo patterns which blend flora and fauna. These Napoleon III sconces reproduce the fineness of the carving of the pieces in bronze under the reign of Louis XV as long as its rococo ornamental repertoire.
