An Empire ormolu clock signed Rocquet
An Empire ormolu clock signed Rocquet à Paris on the enamel dial. Top quality chiseling and beautiful original mercury gilding. Richely decorated with military attributes and the classical repertoire of the Empire with the theme of war trophies, in line with the tastes of a court dominated by the military, and the Greco-Roman references. The base bears the following inscription: "L'amour sous les lauriers n'a point vu de cruelles", and is set on four claw feet. At the top a Love prottected by a Corinthian helmet sits on a sword and a roman shield, the scutum.
