ART DECO SHOWCASE, BY CHARLES DUDOUYT
Beautiful Art Deco display case from 1930, by Charles Dudouyt, in wood and gunmetal frame, opening through two glass doors and comprising five glass shelves. The base rests on a wooden pedestal and the interior walls are covered with cream fabric. Charles Dudouyt (1885-1946) was a French decorator and designer of furniture published and distributed by "La Gentilhommière" (1933-1960). He began his artistic career as a painter and draughtsman. Then, in 1918, he designed and had manufactured floor lamps and various decorative objects, before founding a furniture factory in 1920: L'Abeillée. In 1933, he moved to Paris and created La Gentilhommière, which included a manufacturing workshop and a store. After his death in 1946, his son Jacques Dudouyt continued the Gentilhommière business until 1960.
