An Empire candy box
A candy box in a book form, made out of glass, embossed and gilded paper. The cover is adorned with a beautiful watercolor print under glass, representing an American Indian, as they were represented at the time, under the influence of Chateaubriand. The reverse features the same process, with a decor of bow and arrows; The book side in "trompe l'oeil" marked "Histoires Diverses Tome I". The interior is decorated with an aging mirror, and is lined with green paper in very good condition. Beautiful Empire object in excellent condition, bearing only a few minor wear to gold foil in the corners.
