A French Empire early 19th century gilt bronze mantel clock with science allegory
A French early 19th century ormolu mantel clock with an allegory of science, representing a child reading, leaning on a stone bearing a crown of laurel, a torch, branches and musical instruments. The dial features Roman numerals and a central medallion engraved with a garland of flowers. The rectangular base is decorated with two Puttis reading, sitting on both sides of a base on which stands a globe and a compass.
