Empire Paris porcelain biscuit
A biscuit figure of a Muse kneeling before a rectangular plinth inscribed "mors et vita". The rectangular blue and gold painted base is marked with the signature DIHL.Among the porcelain factories in Paris, the Dihl and Guérhard manufacture is probably the most prestigious, both for its history and the quality of its production. It was founded under the Ancien Regime in 1781, crossed the Revolution without stop working and having its golden age during the Consulate and Empire, she declined and closed during the Restauration in 1823. As in other Parisian factories, Dihl and Guérhard manufacture produced mainly three categories of objects: pieces of tables, dress and ornament. But what distinguishes its production from other factories, was the refinement of forms and decorations. The factory produced many biscuits but few have succeeded.
