Fine porcelain, violin-shaped mantle clock signed Jacob Petit, richly decorated with polychrome flowers accented with golden winding sheets and scrolls on white and light green background. Highly characteristic to the original and full of fantasy style of the artist, with the extraordinary abundance of flowers and Rocaille motifs in high relief, the careful work of the details and the shimmering, easily recognizable colors. The base and pedestal are decorated in their central part with medallions depicting bouquets of roses. Gadrooned leaves and flowering branches flank the enamel dial with Roman numerals, surrounded by a frieze of palmettes in gilded bronze and surmounted by a flame. The openwork pins enrich this beautiful set. The clock is marked JP under the base, in blue. Original movement in working condition. Light wears to the gilding.
