A pair of 19th century miniatures
A pair of early 19th century oval miniatures on ivory showing the portrait of the Baronne and the Baron Louis Jacques Amiot inside of two wood frames decorated with gilt metal patterns.Signed '...Mercier' and '...Mercier.1833', the first inscribed with 'Baronne Louis Jacques Amiot née Aglaé Louise Tage 1833' and the second 'Baron Louis Jacques Amiot 1828'.Miss Hyacinth Mercier worked as a miniaturist in Paris where she lived 27 rue Neuve Saint Rochet and exhibited at the Salon in 1808 and 1810. She painted in the manner of Aubry students , in dotted cross lines forming. The lights of hair is made with gouache. Her works are like those of Ms. Rivière.
