A pair of giltbronze andirons

A pair of Louis XV style gilt bronze andirons, triangular with a checkered background foliage shaped flame, resting on two feet. In chimneys, fires or allow bronze andirons, under Louis XV, to show the greatest fantasy, combining different reasons rockeries or imitating nature. Indeed, concern for realism met with increasingly acute in the treatment of bronze reflects the desire to compete with nature. What shows this pair of andirons in the form of swirling flames.
