A Pierre Chapo massive elm commodeA Pierre Chapo massive elm commode, of a rectangular shape, with seven drawers. Pierre Chapo (1927-1987) is born in a family of craftmen. After his regular studies, he worked for some time in the workshop of a navy carpenter. He was graduated architect in 1958 from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, after having travelled in the United States and in Europe. He opened his own workshop first in Clamart as well as a shop in Paris. His work was inspired by Charlotte Perriand. Ten years later he settled down in Gordes, where he based the Société Chapo. He then dedicated himself mainly to his work as a carpenter and a cabinetmaker and gave a serie of lectures about his great passion, wood. Circa :1965 Dim: W: 35,4 in - D: 20,9in - H: 21,3in.
