Early 19th century oval portrait miniature paintings depicting the Baron and Baroness Louis Jacques Amiot.
These antique paintings are housed in two wooden frames finely decorated with gilt metal palmette and foliated scrolls. Signed and dated "H. Mercier" and "H. Mercier 1833". The first portrait painting is inscribed with "Baronne Louis Jacques Amiot née Aglae Louise Tage 1833", and the second with "Baron Louis Jacques Amiot 1828".

The portrait paintings are in overall good condition. The frames with light wear and small losses on the wood.
Miss Hyacinth Mercier worked as a miniaturist in Paris between 1808 and 1839, where she lived at 27 Neuve Saint Rochet. She exhibited her work at the Salon in 1808 and 1810. She painted in the style of a student of Aubry, using cross hatching to create her forms. The highlights in the hairstyles are done with gouache.
