Bronze sculpture with brown patina, "The harvest", signed Léon Pilet (1840-1916). An allegorical subject representing a woman draped in the antique style, wearing a crown of wheat ears and pearls. She holds in her right hand a scythe and in her left hand a bunch of wheat. On the base is engraved "Concours de la race ovine Berrichonne du cher - 2 Mai 1905 - Prix d'honneur - Mr. Edme Jules". The bronze rests on a wooden base covered with a red velvet that enhances the elegant look of the sculpture.

 

Léon Pilet is a French artist of the XIXth century who exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1861 to 1914 and was distinguished at the Exposition Universelle of 1889. Several French museums preserve his works today
