ART DECO BED IN MACASSAR EBONY VENEER. CIRCA 1925

Art Deco two-seater boat bed frame, made of Macassar ebony veneer, by the decorator Claude de Plasse. The headboard follows a slight curve that gives it elegance while maintaining its simplicity. The foot of the bed enhances the ensemble with its curved forms and its base sculpted with quarter-circle rings. It rests on ball feet. Macassar ebony, a wood of alternating black and cream colours, is used in the decoration and manufacture of high-end furniture, particularly during the Art Deco period. This type of wood is mainly produced in Indonesia and takes its name from the city of Makassar.
