Sculpture in patinated bronze representing "Diana the Huntress" naked holding a bow. Her quiver is attached to her side by a belt passing under her chest. She is wearing a crescent moon in her hair. This is the attribute of the goddess. In an elegant position, she seems to be observing the path of the arrow she has just sent. The sculpture is signed "Moreau Math. Hors concours" on the base. The statue rests on a pink marble base with a gilded bronze mount.

Mathurin Moreau (1822-1912) was a French sculptor, son and student of Jean-Baptiste Moreau. He distinguished himself with bronze sculptures of collections representing feminine elegance, genre scenes and allegories. He won the second prize of Rome in 1842 with Diomède enlevant le Palladium and exhibited at the salon from 1848 where he obtained numerous distinctions.
