Rocaille inkwell representing a goddess in the Antique style in bronze with brown patina, resting on a gilt bronze base decorated with rocaille and foliage scrolls, with two cups. The lids of the inkwells are chiseled with leaves. The deep work gives to the object a beautiful movement.

The term "rocaille" originates from the mineral world and designates small stones, rocks and pieces of glass of irregular shape. Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier (1695-1750) was the first to use the term rocaille to define patterns inspired by irregularly shaped or asymmetrical shells. Once introduced in the interior decoration the shell will know an exceptional development.

Circa :1900
Dim: W: 13,4 in - D: 9,1in - H: 9,1in.
