A bronze sculpture with a shaded brown patina by Ernest Rancoulet illustrating an allegory of work in the form of a young man holding a spear, a symbol of victory, in this case the triumph of wisdom acquired through study and intellectual work. At his feet, several objects refer to reading, arts and sciences: the book - symbol of knowledge par excellence, the caduceus - symbol of the union of heaven and earth, of the awakening of cosmic consciousness, the compass - emblem of exact sciences, the palette with brushes - symbol of art. Signed in hollow on the edge of the book: "Rancoulet". Titled on the base: "LE TRAVAIL par Rancoulet (Sculpteur)".
