Large patinated bronze sculpture featuring Cupid or Eros, God of love, attraction and affection in classical mythology, preparing to shoot his arrow. He is portrayed as a slender winged boy, wearing a bow and a quiver filled with arrows. The bow and arrow are his attributes and also his source of power: a person who is shot by Cupid's arrow is filled with uncontrollable desire. A minor deity, Cupid has nevertheless been a popular figure and a great inspiration to artists of all eras.
