Sculpture in bronze with brown patina representing "The bathing woman with reeds", a young draped woman holding on to some reeds. At her feet is carved a small bird. On the terrace we find the signature of Auguste Moreau. The whole rests on a circular base in cherry red marble. Auguste Moreau (1834-1917) is the son of the painter and statuary Jean-Baptiste Moreau. He was introduced to sculpture by his older brother Mathurin. He is related to the Moreau dynasty with his subjects and genre scenes, pastorals, allegories, and his realistic and graceful style.
