Review

Louis XVI style dressing table in wood veneer and marquetry, surmounted by a pivoting mirror framed by two gilt bronze light arms decorated with scrolling foliage. The tray of kidney shape in wood veneer, opens in belt on three marquetery drawers. The side drawers open with a bronze knob handle decorated with foliage. The central drawer is closed by a lock. The top rests on four tapered and fluted feet. The gilded bronze outline of the swivel mirror ends in a ribbon knot, typical of Louis XVI style furniture.

The Louis XVI style abandons the curved and original forms of the Louis XV style for a return to straight lines with light ornamentation. This period of great sobriety and naturalness is characterized by geometric forms, balanced and well proportioned.

Circa :1900
Dim: W: 38,6 in - D: 21,3in - H: 52,4in.

Very good condition. The bronzes have been redecorated. Slight restoration of the marquetry on the middle drawer.
