CUP IN BRONZE AND MARBLE WITH MYTHOLOGICAL SUBJECT
Cup in bronze with brown patina and mythological subject from the Napoleon III period. It represents three winged putti, wearing vine leaves, holding a cup and bunches of grapes. A putto carries the quiver. The three putti are leaning against the foot of the cup, which is richly decorated with grapevines and bunches of grapes. It supports a bowl decorated with a Medusa head in the centre and vine branches around the edge. The bowl rests on a black Marble base with curved sides. The subject refers to the festivals of Bacchus, god of wine and drunkenness in Greco-Roman mythology, where satyrs and Bacchae drink from cups and dance.
