A pair of 17th-century twisted columns in polychrome lacquered wood, decorated with branches and gilded flowers. They stand on molded bases and terminate in Ionic capitals linked by a frieze of ovals. The sides of the capitals show two opposing flowers. Widely used in the Baroque period, similar shapes can be found on the baldachin of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. This form is also known as Salomonic columns, as they are said to have adorned Solomon's temple in Jerusalem.
