This monumentally-sized pair of crystal candleholders was executed by the French glassmaker Portieux. Crafted in the early 20th century, they are intricately engraved with dolphins, vases and foliage. Each lamp is resting on a fluded candlestick-shaped base. Candle holder is a lighting piece designed to hold or support a candle or lantern. With its soft lighting and delicate decoration, this crystal lamp set is a delightful treasure, that would make an authentic statement in any room. Signed "Portieux".

Portieux (1705-2012) is a French glass factory founded in 1705 by François Magnier de Magnienville, which became at the end of the 19th century the most important glass factory in the Vosges, Lorraine region. Heir to one of the oldest French crystal factories, it specialized in goblets and decorative items. During its history, the Portieux crystal factory supplied many prestigious customers, including the Grand Duchess of Wladimir, wife of the brother of Tsar Nicolas II, and later, the Ritz Paris.
