Pair of black marble obelisks decorated with gilded hieroglyphs and bronze heads of pharaohs. They rest on architectural bases with red marble nets and four bronze feet. It is a production of Egyptian style of the late nineteenth century.

The 19th century, or the century of "Egyptomania", was marked by a fascination of Westerners for the history and culture of Pharaonic Egypt. Since Bonaparte's expedition to Egypt in 1798, until the inauguration of the Suez Canal in 1869, the country arouses curiosity. Archaeological discoveries fascinated scientists and bewitched artists and collectors. The Empire style was characterized by Egyptomania.
