CLOCK "AU COLPORTEUR" IN BRONZE, RESTORATION PERIOD

Current stock : 0

Clock "au colporteur" in bronze of Restoration period, representing a winged Love in walk leaning on a thyrse and carrying on its back the movement. The theme of the itinerant merchant carrying his goods was very popular during the Romantic period, as were other subjects depicting small trades: sailor, gardener, negro at work, etc. Our peddler is girded with a garland of grapevines and wears sandals. His eyes are glazed, and contrast with the golden patina of his face. Behind him is a basket filled with fruit. The ensemble rests on an oval base decorated with vine branches, raised by four claw feet.
