Wall panel made by Jean de LESPINASSE (1896-1979), composed of 8 ceramic tiles with polychrome enamel decoration inlaid on a panel of rosewood veneer. The set shows a rider with his spear and his shield, riding a black stallion. At his side, a groom tries to calm the animal. The clothes and armor of the men and the animal with geometric shapes and primary colors recall orientalist decorations. The panel is monogrammed "JdL" in the lower right corner.

Jean de Lespinasse (JdL), is a famous ceramist of the 40s. At the end of the war, he opened his local craft workshop and later created with his wife the SOCFRA. They crossed paths with Roger Capron. Jean de Lespinasse is known for his large-scale works, and his mastery of the art of ceramics through his play of matte and shiny enamel.
